Records of conversations of suspects in Markelov-Baburova case read out at trial
The process on the murder case of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova has heard excerpts from the records of tapping of the apartment of the accused Nikita Tikhonov and Evgenia Khasis. According to the prosecution, this material, evidence against the defendants, while the defence believes that the evidence is insufficient.
According to Prosecutor Elena Sukhova, the defendants are talking in the apartment about the investigation of Markelov's murder. "I went to consult with Ed and took two pistols with me. I suspect they think I did it," said Tikhonov.
The records show that the figurants in the case were going to leave for St Petersburg and got ready to open fire when meeting law enforcers. "With pistols we'll not be able to shoot back, get ready with the AKSU (compact Kalashnikov)," Khasis said in the records. "We can fight back a storm, but you won't go against snipers with the AKSU," said Tikhonov, whose conversation was quoted by the "Interfax".
Besides, the state prosecution read out the protocol of examining the Khasis' laptop. Among other things, the telephone flash memory card was reviewed, which was found in her cosmetics bag. In particular, one of the files in the card contained a release of the "Combat Organization of Russian Nationalists" saying that a cut-off head is a native of Central Asia ("black occupier") was planted near the administration of the Mozhaisk District of Moscow. The same file contained two photos of the cut-off head.
The defendants' advocates named these and other evidences of the prosecution as "rubbish", having no relation to the case, the "Novaya Gazeta" writes.
