Astrakhan journalist Teplischev asserts doctors refuse to treat him

Oleg Teplischev, a local journalist, was discharged from the hospital, despite the earlier set diagnosis of brain concussion. He claims that he was discharged without due treatment; and this has to do with the upcoming journalist's trial on alleged charges of assaulting Rifkat Shabanov, a local deputy from the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party.

"I was again discharged from the hospital - this time, by the order of the department head," Oleg Teplischev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent and added that he still felt bad, and the doctors of the Alexander-and-Mary Hospital, where he was treated, were quite well aware of it.

"I was discharged with the treatment unfinished. My health condition is poor. By the way, they gave no recommendations for outpatient treatment. The diagnosis of brain concussion was confirmed; however, the department head believes that I don't deserve even a sick leave. If there are complications, he'd be blamed for nothing - I'd be guilty of everything. How can I recover, if he recommends me to go to work?" asked Teplischev.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent could not get any comments at the Astrakhan Regional Alexander-and-Mary Clinical Hospital. The reception office of the hospital head advised to contact Inna Kravtsova, head of the Neurosurgery Centre; however, her telephone did not answer the whole day on March 28.

The journalist had earlier complained about serious obstacles in his treatment. He believes that another "early discharge" has to do with the court session on Teplischev's alleged attack on deputy Rifkat Shabanov, appointed on March 30.
