Residents of Imereti Lowland in Sochi smash the fence of Olympic construction

Today at night, in the Imereti Lowland of Sochi, in the territory of the "Rossiya" State Farm, in the area of the "Bolshevik" recreation base, a 40-meter-long metal fence was erected across the beach, local ecologists report.

Residents called local authorities, but after unsuccessful waiting period made an independent decision to demolish the illegal, in their opinion, fencing around the Olympic object named "Imeretinskiy Port Facility".

This project is actively opposed by ecologists and local residents, as a result of its implementation, according to their version, the last section of natural beaches in the Imereti Lowland will be destroyed; and unique habitats of coastal vegetation will be ruined.

The new metal fence was detected by local residents today in the morning; they called the police and the bosses of the Adler District. Nobody came, and after many hours of waiting, at 3:45 p.m. they started dismantling the fence. This is reported in the release issued by the "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus" and sent to the "Caucasian Knot".
