Flu takes away 44 lives in Georgia
On March 18, two more persons died of influenza in Georgia; one of them was killed by the H1N1 virus. The total number of flu cases in Georgia has exceeded one thousand.
One of the lethal cases was in Tbilisi; the other one - in Kutaisi. According to official sources, in both cases the disease developed at the background of other chronic diseases, which caused the deaths. Besides, the perished men had been too late to address doctors.
According to the National Centre for Disease Control (CDC) and Public Health of Georgia, this season the registered 1016 confirmed cases of influenza. Of them, the H1N1 virus was responsible for 596 cases, the type B virus - for 408 cases, the H3N2-1 and the untyped A virus - 11 cases, the "Medianews" reports.
In total, 44 deaths of flu were recorded: 29 were killed by H1N1, 13 - by type B virus and 2 - by type A virus.
The CDC noted that all the fatal cases of this season (starting from the beginning of 2011) were caused by late address to doctors, the "News-Georgia" writes.
