Georgia: new structure launched to fight violations of human rights by authorities

A new structure of the Representative National Assembly "Shepitsulebi" (Those who gave oath) was set up with the mission to curb human rights violations by the authorities.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Representative National Assembly was established by public activists and opposition forces in Georgia in spring 2010. Later, the activists of the initiative group announced that they wage a war against the current authorities of the country.

The structure of the "Shepitsulebi" "will work throughout Georgia. Its main mission is to curb facts of human rights violations by the authorities and take appropriate preventive measures," the press office of the Assembly reported on March 7.

The "Shepitsulebi" is headed by actor Giya Burdzhanadze, an activist of the "National Assembly". The official presentation of the structure will be held on March 10 at the Tbilisi Palace of Chess, the "News-Georgia" reports.
