Piquets against arrest of ecologist Evgeny Vitishko passed off in Krasnodar

A series of piquets in defense of Evgeny Vitishko, activist of "Ecologic Watch in Northern Caucasus" and "Yabloko" party, passed off in Krasnodar. Suren Gazaryan, Vitishko's colleague in "Ecologic Watch" and the party, was the organizer of the piquets.

"Caucasian Knot" has formerly reported that Vitishko was serving an administrative arrest in a special ward of the Department of Interior Affairs in Tuapse and Tuapse district and three ecologists arrested together with him on February, 28, had already been released.

A piquet in Vitishko's defense started in the square in front of Krasnodar regional Administration's office. Gazaryan stood up opposite the Administration building with a poster "Freedom for Evgeny Vitishko!". Then he put on imitation handcuffs. After midday Suren Gazaryan and his support group started moving along Krasnaya street stopping on their way and holding piquets in different points of the city's center.

The square in front of the memorial "200-th Anniversary of Kuban Cossack squad", near a guarding post of "Neva" security holding whose personnel took part in the detention of Evgeny Vitishko and other activists on February, 27, was the place of the last piquet, web-site of "Ecologic Watch in Northern Caucasus" reports.

The piquet passed of without confrontations with militia. "Some militiamen came up to me for document checkup. Some time later Head of Public security militia Popanov arrived. He asked me why I had come and what I needed it for. And that was all", "Kasparov.ru" quotes Gazaryan.
