New public movement founded in Sochi
With the aim to unite and consolidate efforts to address local residents' problems, public activists of the resort city of Sochi, Krasnodar Territory, have set up a social movement "City Public Council - Civil Forum of Sochi", where any person may be a member.
Within the movement, an open platform has been created for public dialogue on most pressing problems of the city. The main format of the Forum is a public hearing on a predefined topic, while the main current job is in commissions on activity directions.
Proposals were made on starting particular commissions, including a commission to protect citizens' rights at alienation of land plots for the needs of the Olympic Games 2014, and a commission for preservation of the environment, land use and building regulations.
