Soldier killed on Nagorno-Karabakh-Azerbaijani border

Nagorno-Karabakh has reported the death of a regular soldier of its Defence Army Grigory Shakhkyanov, born in 1991, as a result of violating ceasefire in the north-eastern direction of the Karabakh-Azerbaijan line of contact (in Verkhniy Chailu).

The Division for Information and Propaganda of the Defence Army of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) has stated that the incident was caused by violation of the ceasefire by the Azerbaijani party. Azerbaijan gave no comments on the incident; its circumstances are still unknown.

"This is the second incident, registered in recent days and caused exclusively by aggressive actions of the Azerbaijani army units. Yesterday, Ovannes Avdalyan, another regular soldier of the NKR Defence Army, was wounded also because of a breach of ceasefire by the opponent," said the press service of the Karabakh's Defence Army.

Another border incident happened on February 17. Then, according to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Karabakh, a fight with casualties burst out in the contact line. At the same time, the press service of the MoD of Azerbaijan reported about an injury of their 20-year-old soldiers in the village of Gyzyloba, Terter District.

The press service of the MoD of Azerbaijan also stated that Nagorno-Karabakh broke the ceasefire in different directions on February 6 and 7.
