Cableway collapses in Kabardino-Balkaria

The ropeway "Azau-Stary Krugozor" on Mount Elbrus was undermined by unidentified culprits, as reported by a source from local law enforcement bodies. According to his story, nobody was hurt by the explosion.

According to an eyewitness, who is in the venue, special services has stopped a similar ski lift on the adjacent slope of Mount Elbrus, in the area of the point "Cheget Glade", the RIA "Novosti" reports.

As reported by a source from law enforcement bodies of Kabardino-Balkaria, the incident resulted in collapse of about 30 out of the 45 cabins of the ropeway; nobody was hurt.

Crowds of skiers gathered at the foot of the cable car, but nobody can climb. Some of the tourists make use of snowmobiles to climb up.

The "Elbrustourist" denies the version of deliberate explosion. "There was no terror act; just strong winds, something wrong with electricity - and the rope collapsed," the "Russian News Service" quotes its source from the tourist organization.
