IOC officials are happy with ski resort "Rosa Khutor"

As stated by Jean-Claude Killy, Chairman of the Coordination Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), who visited Sochi in connection with the first test races at the ski resort "Rosa Khutor", about 75 percent of construction works of the objects for the 2014 Winter Olympics will be completed by the end of this year.

Let us note that today Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin watched the European Cup competitions in Alpine skiing, which were held on the track of the Alpine ski centre "Rosa Khutor". They also met IOC officials there.

Mr Killy has treated the construction pace of Olympic objects in Sochi as "absolutely incredible." "In fact, today we received information that 40 percent of the planned construction works are already over; and by the end of 2011 about 70-75 percent of all construction works will be completed," the press service of the organizing committee "Sochi-2014" quotes Mr Killy as saying.

He has emphasized that for the first time in the history of the Olympics, the IOC had awarded the Games to the country, where it was necessary to create 80 percent of infrastructures from scratch, according to RIA "Novosti".

Mr Putin also said that the ski trails are not inferior to the Alpine slopes in Swiss and Austrian resorts, the AP reports. He said that experts had assured him of that.
