Mardanov: in 2010, Azerbaijan dismissed 108 workers of education for corruption

Last year, as reported by Misir Mardanov, Minister of Education, 108 educators lost their posts within the campaign of fighting corruption.

The information was announced by the Minister on February 15, in the course of the sitting at the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan on "National Strategy on Increasing Transparency and Combating Corruption and Its Implementation (2007-2011)".

According to Misir Mardanov, in the context of the instruction, received from President Ilham Aliev on strengthening the fight against corruption, a serious work is underway at the Ministry of Education.

"The persons who have admitted mistakes and shortcomings in their work, found guilty of corruption and bribery, have been punished. In particular, in 2010, four heads of district departments of education, 72 school principals, five deputy principals, one head of the off-class educational institution, 6 directors of vocational schools, 1 university teacher, 10 directors of kindergartens, 9 accountants - in total 108 persons were dismissed," reported Misir Mardanov.

Besides, the Minister said that 41 educators received final warnings, and 115 persons were reprimanded, the "1news.az" writes.
