Chechen militia finds two young women thought abducted

Two women-residents of Chechnya, whose relatives thought them to have been kidnapped, were found by Chechen law enforcers in North Ossetia. Such incidents, according to a MIA officer, are used by some media and human rights organizations for allegations that kidnappings continue in Chechnya.

"On February 8, the on duty unit of the MIA received an application from relatives of two young women, students of one of educational institutions of Grozny, that they did not come home after studies and, possibly, were abducted," the officer told the "Caucasian Knot".

According to his version, "almost immediately after receiving the signal, all the services and law-enforcement units were focused on search." "Yesterday, on February 9, the allegedly kidnapped girls - Yakhyaeva and Aznieva - were found in Vladikavkaz and returned home," he said.

The officer explained that the girls could not clearly explain why they had not warned their parents and for what reason they had left the republic. They said that they just 'wanted to have a rest.'," said the officer.

The girls were handed over to their parents directly in the office of the Interior Minister of Chechnya Ruslan Alkhanov.

"Such incidents are often subjects of speculations by unscrupulous human rights activists and biased media," said the source. "Imagine what would have happened if the militia had failed to find the 'abducted' girls relatively quickly! Immediately information would have been spread that kidnappings continue in Chechnya, that lawlessness reigns here and so on. "
