All schools in Volgograd are on quarantine
Because of increasing incidence of influenza, all educational institutions of Volgograd are under quarantine; and all the lessons are cancelled.
"Pursuant to the recommendation of the Department of 'Rospotrebnadzor' (Russian Federal Agency for Consumer Supervision) for the Volgograd Region, in the period of February 3-12 inclusive, the classes are temporarily suspended at all educational institutions of the city regardless of the ownership form and departmental affiliation," said the Mayoralty of Volgograd.
According to the above regional "Rospotrebnadzor", only on February 1 Volgograd registered 4281 SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) and influenza cases; that is, the incidence index made 42.0 per 10,000 of population, which is by 62 percent higher than for the same day of the previous week. Most of the patients are children, the "Interfax-South" reports.
Let us note here that currently the quarantine regime is now active in schools of the Astrakhan Region, Stavropol Territory and other southern regions of Russia. From the start of the year, the threshold incidence of SARS and influenza was exceeded, in particular, in all age groups in Kalmykia and North Ossetia, where the morbidity rate among school-age children went up by 87.1 percent.
