In North Ossetia, last year's damage from corruption-related crimes amounted to 144 million roubles

In 2010, the total sum of the material damage caused by corruption crimes made 144 million roubles, while in 2009 it was 114 million roubles, said Vladimir Vekshin, Public Prosecutor of North Ossetia, at the sitting of the Collegium of his Office held on February 2.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, while in 2009 in the course of the inquiry, ten million roubles of damage were compensated, in 2010 - the compensation sum was 66 million roubles. Such results, according to Mr Vekshin, are inconclusive; therefore, this year, specialists should focus their efforts and improve the performance indicators of damage recoverability.

Apart from detection and investigation of criminal cases, the head of the Office finds it important to improve prevention measures. According to Vladimir Vekshin, one of the most effective methods is in broad publication in media of materials about corruption criminal cases considered by the courts.
