Italian authorities refute Ruslan Umarov’s detention
Representatives of Italian authorities have refuted the information of detention of Ruslan Umarov, a thirty-five-year-old brother of Dokku Umarov, leader of North Caucasian gunmen.
It has been formerly reported that the personnel of Italian law enforcement bodies had taken Ruslan Umarov off a train while he was crossing the Italian border in the railway station of Mestre in Venice.
Sources in the Prefecture of North-Italian province of Horitsia reported in the evening of January, 31, that the person detained in the railway station of Mestre and placed in a temporary isolation ward for illegal immigrants in a small town of Gradisk was an unknown foreigner, not Ruslan Umarov.
The detained turned out to be a citizen of Tajikistan which became clear in process of establishing judicial identity. The only similar feature between him and Russlan Umarov was their age. According to Italian legislation, the detained person who has no documents must be deported to his motherland Tajikistan, RIA “Novosti” reports.
