Miner dies in Rostov Region

On January 24, one miner was killed and three more injured in a collapse of the elevator cage in the mine "Rostovskaya" of the city of Gukovo, Rostov Region; one victim is in grave condition, and two have minor injuries, said the spokesman from the Ministry of Public Health of the Rostov Region.

As stated on January 24 at the sitting of the collegium of the administration of the Rostov Region by Vice-Governor Sergey Gorban, an elevator cable broke in the mine. A special commission is now studying the place of the incident. The vice-governor sent Tatiana Bykovskaya, Regional Minister of Public Health, and Sergey Mikhalev, Industry Minister, to Gukovo, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

"The miner, who is in grave condition, was taken to the first aid hospital of Gukovo. Other two injured miners received their outpatient treatment and went home," said the spokesman of the Regional Ministry of Public Health.

According to preliminary data, the incident happened because of violation of safety regulations, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
