More than 150 persons suffered from explosion at Domodedovo Airport

The explosion was triggered near the customs control at Domodedovo; therefore, according to eyewitnesses, there are many foreign nationals among the victims of the terror act. According to the statement posted on the website of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), the total count of victims went up to 152, 58 of them were hospitalized, and 31 persons died. According to other sources, 35 persons were killed.

A powerful explosion was triggered at about 4:25 p.m. in the arrival hall of international airlines of the Moscow's Domodedovo Airport. According to preliminary information, the explosion was committed by a suicide bomber, who was in the crowd of those who meet the arriving passengers; and the power of the bomb was about 5-7 kilos of TNT (trotyl equivalent). The bomb was stuffed with metal striking elements.

According to the list of the MfE, 37 persons were placed in metropolitan hospitals. Eight other victims hospitalized to the Central District Hospital of Domodedovo, 11 - to the hospital of Vidnoe; 94 victims were treated as outpatients, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

As reported by a saleswoman of a kiosk opposite the exit from the airport, many of the victims were literally covered with blood. "There were many Africans, persons who don't speak Russian at all," she said.

It is already known that a Slovak actress Zuzana Fialova has suffered in the Domodedovo terror act; she received her medical help at a Moscow hospital, the RIA "Novosti" reports with reference to the Internet portal of the Slovak newspaper named "SME".

The "Interfax" reports with reference to a source from the medical community that there were no children among the casualties and victims of the explosion at the Domodedovo Airport.

Currently, the place of the explosion is fenced with a cloth curtain; and the airport continues to send off and receive flights, while the Ministries of Transports and Internal Affairs have introduced, in cooperation with the Russian Federal Security Bureau (FSB), enhanced security measures at all Moscow transport facilities.
