19 children hospitalized with acute intestinal infection in Astrakhan Region

An outbreak of dysentery was registered in the village of Karagani, Privolzhskiy District of the Astrakhan Region; 19 children were hospitalized.

As reported by the Chief Department of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) for the region, the children were taken to the regional clinical hospital.

The MfE spokesman has added that 16 children were preliminary diagnosed as acute dysentery, and 3 more - "acute gastroenteritis", the "Interfax" reports.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported about an outbreak of dysentery in the kindergarten "Zolotaya Rybka" (Goldfish) in the village of Solyonoe Zaimische, Chernoyar District of the Astrakhan Region, in May 2010. Then, according to the "Rospotrebnadzor" (Russian Federal Agency for Consumer Supervision) ten persons suffered.
