After student's death, Rostov sets up organization to help in interethnic conflicts
After the death of Maxim Sychov, a student from Rostov-on-Don, who was killed in a fight with his fellow student and hostel neighbour - a native of Ingushetia, activists of youth organizations of the city announced creation of a public organization aimed to help in settling interethnic conflicts.
"When my friends and I learned about the tragedy with Maxim Sychov, we thought it would be nice to have some 'instrument' able to draw 'botanists' out of such situations, to address an interethnic conflict at the very beginning, not after young boys have been buried with a kind smile. Thus, an idea appeared to set up an organization able to address these issues. It was called 'Quiet Don'," Alexander Petrushin, Head of the Department in Rostov-on-Don of the All-Russian Public Movement "Russian Image".
The "Quiet Don" will work in two directions: with Diaspora and with countrymen as such. Currently, activists are trying to reach consent with the head of the regional administration and universities.
