More than 20 persons detained at rally in memory of Markelov and Baburova in Moscow

In the course of the rally in Pushkin Square in Moscow in memory of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova assassinated two years ago 21 persons were detained.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the rally in memory of Markelov and Baburova was attended by activists of social movements, friends of the casualties, anti-fascists, human rights activists and oppositionists, among them - Lev Ponomaryov, Sergey Udaltsov and Vladimir Ryzhkov.

"One person was detained for lighting a fire, and some more - for appearing in masks. All of them were taken to the nearby police station for drawing up protocols on administrative offences," said Anatoly Lastovetskiy, the on duty officer of the group of the operative-and-information response of the Moscow GUVD (Chief Interior Department).

According to his story, there were 350 participants of the rally, the "Interfax" reports.

The actions in memory of Markelov and Baburova in Moscow began with laying flowers at the place of their death. The march started at 7:30 p.m. at the monument to Timiryazev at the Nikitskie Gate. The participants chanted the slogans: "No Nazis, no problem" and "Nothing is forgotten, no one is forgotten"; they unfolded large banners with slogans against fascism and Nazism.
