Rostov oppositionist fined for holding an unauthorized rally
Vladislav Ryazantsev, coordinator of the Rostov branch of the movement "Left-Wing Front" was fined by one thousand roubles for holding an unauthorized rally. The opposition leader plans to challenge the ruling.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Rostov-on-Don activists of the "Left-Wing Front" failed to hold their protest action "Day of Anger", scheduled for November 12, in the central square of the city, in front of the regional administration. The place was occupied by a pro-governmental youth organization, which conducted its own action sanctioned by the administration. Activists of the opposition action were taken to the police station.
"The administrative case related to this detention was considered by the judicial district No. 3 of the Kirov District of Rostov-on-Don. I was found guilty of 'organizing an unsanctioned rally' and fined by one thousand roubles," Vladislav Ryazantsev told by telephone from the courtroom to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"I'm not going to pay the fine. On Thursday I'll have the court ruling in hands and start preparing a cassation appeal. Firstly, I was detained before 7 p.m. - the time of the unauthorized rally. Secondly, the administration of the city is constantly rejecting our applications on rallies in Soviets Square, sending us to a totally deserted place near the Palace of Sports. We try to challenge these answers of the administration in the judicial order," said Ryazantsev.
