Inspectors establish those guilty of worker's death at Volgodonsk NPP
The investigatory authorities of the city of Volgodonsk have confirmed the death of a worker at construction of the third unit of the Volgodonsk Nuclear Power Plant on December 8, 2010. However, the NPP administration reported that there were no deaths of plant workers.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at the Volgodonsk NPP, built in the Rostov Region, one of the cranes engaged in building the third power unit lost its rope strings, and the metal cable fell on the workers. As a result, one of them died on the spot and the other received a minor injury. Now, technical and engineering examination actions have been appointed and are conducted.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent received confirmation at the Investigatory Division for the city of Volgodonsk that at the Volgodonsk NPP a cable fell from a crane on a worker of one of subcontractors. The victim died from the received injuries.
The people from the Division added that inspectors had established all the persons in charge of labour safety in the subcontractor's organization.
If the connection is found between their actions or inaction and the death of the worker, a criminal case will be opened under the "breach of labour safety rules, which has entailed human death by negligence", where the sanction is imprisonment for up to three years.
