Militia detained accidental passers by in Manege Square, mass media report

On January, 11, in Manege Square were an action of nationalist “Movement of December, 11” had been planned from 10 to several tens people according to various sources were detained. About 2 000 militiamen were on duty in the square, the area was blocked.

Caucasian Knot” has formerly reported that some time ago a message of the “Movement of December, 11” created after the death of “Spartak” fan Egor Sviridov appeared on the Net calling to gather on January, 11, at 19:00 in Manege Square. Representatives of the movement called the action a “nationwide meeting” in their post in LiveJournal. By the moment of the beginning of the meeting access to the square had been blocked by riot squad.

Militiamen were carrying to the paddy wagon everyone who seemed suspicious to them, mostly Caucasians and people wearing sports jackets. They were mostly accidental passers by, “Commersant” reports.

According to mass media, from 50 to 100 people were detained, among them Vladimir Tor, member of national council of DPNI (“Movement against Illegal Immigration”), Alexey Mihailov, leader of nationalist organization “Russian Image” and Dmitry Demushkin, head of “Slavic Force”.

A source in Moscow law enforcement bodies reported that Dmitry Demushkin might get 15 days of arrest, RIA “Novosti” informed.

According to Victor Biriukov, Chief of the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Department of Interior Affairs of the capital, militia detained 10 persons, “Interfax” reports. Victor Biriukov did not specify what exactly the detained people’s fault had been.

It should be mentioned that representatives of the “Movement of December, 11” have already declared that they were going to hold their nationalist actions in Manege Square every month.
