A footballer from Azerbaijan will play for the first time in the English Premier League

Araz Abdullaev, halfback of “Neftchi” Football Club (Baku) and youth combined team of Azerbaijan, is moving to the famous English team “Everton”. He will become the first representative of Azerbaijani football in the English Premier League.

“I do not know the exact term of the contract but it will be a long-term one. We like Araz Abdullaev’s play we first saw in a match of youth combined teams of Azerbaijan and Scotland (U-21) a year ago. So, we decided to invite the young man to our club”, David Harisson, Head of “Everton’s” Department, said at a press conference in Baku on January, 7.

Abdullaev will probably start playing in “Everton” already from the next season. According to the terms of the contract, “Neftchi” will maintain Abdullaev’s membership in the team on a leasehold basis until the end of the national championship which will be over in May.

Abdullaev himself said that he was taking a course of English. The sportsman did not answer the question about the sum and other terms of the contract he had signed. At the same time he confirmed that “the contract is a long-term one”.
