Power Unit No. 2 of Rostov NPP added to the grid
After elimination of the reasons that triggered the electric protection circuit on January 4, today the Power Unit No. 2 of the Rostov Nuclear Power Plant was switched on and added to the energy grid.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 4 the protection circuit operated and switched off Power Unit No. 2; the thermal load of the unit was reduced to 10 percent of the normal capacity.
As reported by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) "Rosenergoatom Concern", Power Unit No. 2 of the Rostov NPP was switched on today at 11:42 a.m. Units Nos. 1 and 2 operate in the project mode in accordance with the dispatch schedule of loading. There are no violations of the limits and conditions of safe operation of the equipment.
"The radiation background at the Rostov NPP and in the adjacent territory is at a level consistent with the normal operation of power units, and does not exceed the natural background values," runs the website of the OJSC.
