The number of internet users in Armenia in 2010 increased twice
Last year the number of internet users in Armenia increased twice. It has come to 173 thousand people and taking into consideration the users of mobile internet there are 1,5 million.
At the session of the Government on December, 30, Prime-minister of the country Tigran Sarkisyan reported that retail prices on high-speed internet went down from 15 to 8 thousand drams per megabit during the year.
Wholesale prices on internet have also reduced twice which creates favourable conditions for this sphere's development in 2011, Prime-minister considers.
Sarkisyan informed that there had been significant progress in the development of information technology. In particular, the whole territory of Armenia is covered with 3G net, besides, Armenia has been among the first countries of the region which have launched 4G standard net, "ArmInfo" reports.
However, as "Caucasian Knot" has already reported, there are still problems with reliability of internet connection. Armenia has several times remained without World Wide Web because of problems that used to occur in the territory of Georgia.
