Head of Maikop Forestry to face trial in Adygea
The Prosecutor's Office of Adygea has approved the indictment against Madzhit Khatukai, head of the Maikop Forestry. He is accused of negligence entailing damage to the state caused during the works in the territory of the Nature Monument "Upstream Sections of Pshekha and Pshekhashkha Rivers".
According to prosecutors' conclusion, the improper execution of his duties by the head of the Maikop Forestry resulted in gross damage to the state worth over 230 million roubles.
Inspectors believe that Khatukai's actions resulted in illegal removal, destruction and deterioration of soil during the works of maintaining the Tsitsin Forestry, located on the territory of the Nature Monument "Upstream Sections of Pshekha and Pshekhashkha Rivers", enlisted as a World Natural Heritage Object by the UNESCO in the "Western Caucasus" nomination, the "Interfax" reports with reference to the General Prosecutor's Office of Russia.
Now, the case will go to the Maikop District Court for consideration on the merits, the RBC reports.
So far, the attitude of Madzhit Khatukai to the charges against him is unknown.
