Veterans of local wars: steps toward dialogue

The initiative group of the "Working Meeting of Participants in the Movement of Veterans of Local Wars" made a pre-arranged visit to Baku in early November. The goal of the visit was to meet former participants in armed conflicts and acquaint them with the plans of the Caucasian Forum. But the main task of the group, nevertheless, was to search for those who can be potential partners in the further joint activity, in particular, in the preparation of the All-Caucasian meeting of former participants in armed conflicts. The members of the group visited Baku were Guram Kvaratskheliya (Georgia, Tbilisi), Timur Tskhurbate (South Osetia, Tskhinvali), and Alan Parastayev (coordinator of the project). Sabina Masimova, Caucasian Forum of NGOs Coordinator for International Alert, was in Baku when the group was on the visit there. She gave her consent to take part in the scheduled meetings. The decision was made to offer Caucasian Forum participants to hold working meetings in Moscow on December 17-24.
