Eduard Shevardnadze accused opposition of impeding negotiations with Abkhazia and South Osetia

"There are impulses from Russia, Abkhazia and South Osetia to peacefully settle the Georgian-Osetian and Georgian-Abkhazian conflicts," said Eduard Shevardnadze at the cabinet's November 19 session. The president did not specify what those impulses were. However, he stressed the political situation in Georgia was impeding the negotiation process. As soon as meetings of protest is over in Tbilisi, Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov and representatives of Abkhazian and South Osetian virtual authorities will arrive in Georgia, according to Shevardnadze.
