Armenia opens ropeway "Tatev Wings"
Today, Armenia hosted the opening ceremony of the world's longest reversible ropeway "Tatev Wings".
The ropeway runs to the medieval Tatev Monastery, located in the village of Tatev, Syunik Region in southern Armenia. The highest point of the ropeway is 330 meters; a one-way travel takes 11 minutes and 25 seconds.
The launch of the ropeway to Tatev Monastery symbolizes the official start of the project "Revival of Tatev", implemented by the Foundation of National Competitiveness of Armenia. The total project cost is 45 million US dollars, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
The ropeway 5.7 km long will be recorded in the Guinness Book of Records, the "Interfax" reports.
