Conference on Chechnya took place in Boston

The conference "Humane Catastrophe in Chechnya and Ways to Achieve Peace" was held at Boston University on November 14 and 16. The DAYMOHK Agency source in the U.S. reported that, in contrast to most university conferences, this forum had Chechen journalists: Badruddin Musliyev, Raisa Talkhanova, Albina Digayeva and others as participants.

Documentaries about the tragedy in Chechnya were demonstrated at the conference, namely "Victims of the Russian-Chechen Conflict" (Catherine Osgood), "Inside Chechnya" (Raisa Talkhanova), "Children's Stories - Not for Kids" (Zara Imayeva), and "Assassination of Russia" (Yuri Felshinsky). Judging from the films, which were demonstrated according to the chronology of the developments in Chechnya, the situation in the republic has not changed for the better at all for four years of the war.

Conference participants agreed in opinion that the only way out of the Chechen tragedy was to take political steps that would induce the Russian society and leadership to organize a transition process and arrange a truce between the parties of the Chechen conflict.

Speakers denounced the imitation of the presidential election on the Chechen territory and other procedures conducted by the Kremlin regime in the "republic ravaged and driven to despair". Participants came to the conclusion that the inability of the Russian authorities to cease bloodshed in Chechnya would obviously lead to the necessity to establish an interim international administration in the republic.
