A figurant of the case of murdering Politkovskaya was brought a new accusation

On October, 7, the Committee of inquiry of the Russian Federation brought a new accusation of organizing the murder of Anna Politkovskaya, observer of "Novaya Gazeta", against Sergey Khajikurbanov, ex-major of the Moscow Directorate for Combating Organized Crime.

The new accusation is practically similar to the one brought against Khajikurbanov during the first investigation but this time the investigators eliminated the episode of exceeding authority and extortion of money from entrepreneur Edward Ponikarov together with Pavel Ryaguzov, lieutenant colonel of Federal Security Service.

For this reason the case on the murder of the journalist will now be heard not by the military court as it has been done before but by Moscow Municipal court, "Commersant" reports.

The investigation considers that Sergey Khajikurbanov had got an order from some people who disliked Politkovskaya's published works, chosen the Makhmudov brothers as executors and provided them with arms. One of these days the investigator is going to interrogate Sergey Khajikurbanov in connection with the fact that an underground workshop manufacturing arms where according to the current version the "IZH" gas pistol used for killing the journalist was remodeled into a battle one has been discovered in Moscow.
