Members of the top brass report death of ten gunmen in a counter-terror operation in Dagestan

Informational center of National counter-terror committee (NCTC) reported that during two special operations going on in Kaspiisk and Makhachkala today ten gunmen have been killed.

We will remind that the regime of counter-terror operation (CTO) was established in the neighbourhood of country settlement community "Science" in the suburbs of Kaspiisk and the village of Semender near Makhachkala at 06:30 Moscow time. The reason for these measures had been an operational report from Federal Security Service of Russia informing that members of subversive terrorist groups were hiding themselves in the territory.

According to NCTC, by 09:00 Moscow time ten participants of armed underground had been killed in an armed confrontation, among them, eight men were killed in Kaspiisk and two more in Makhachkala, ITAR-TASS reports.

According to law enforcement agencies, the supposed gunmen were blocked and in reply to the offer of surrender they put up armed resistance.

Active stages of both CTOs are still in process.

RIA "Dagestan" reports the operation is being carried out in cooperation of Ministry of Interior affairs and Federal Security Service of Dagestan.

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow
