High-handedness of the military in Samashki village

On November 7, Russian servicemen burst into the house of the Katsayevs in Samashki of the Achkhoy-Martan district and conducted an unwarranted search of the house.

To remind, the Russian military abducted Eliza, a 16-year-old daughter of the Katsayevs, in April of the current year. That incident triggered the locals' protests and the authorities of Chechnya had to interfere to set the girl free. She was eventually found in North Osetia two days later.

"The servicemen came in three armored vehicles without license plates and didn't explain anything. They were very aggressive. They forced all of us out and conducted an hour and a half search," the housewife told the Caucasus Times correspondent. "The Russian soldiers turned everything in the house upside down, climbed on the roof, not telling us what they were looking for. If we dared to ask they ordered to keep silence. Then they took away our old poster made when we had searched for our daughter, and left the scene. Fortunately, our daughter was not at the site at that moment, but they did not inquire about her either."

The Katsayevs' neighbors called the local police to stop the arbitrariness of the servicemen. When the policemen approached, a serviceman radioed: "Blue ones" have come. The order has been carried out! We leave!" Then the servicemen got into their armored vehicles and left the scene.

The district police department reported they failed to find out what Russian military subunit had searched the Katsayevs' house. The police declined to give any other comments on the incident.
