In South Ossetia, July 20 announced mourning day on victims of Transkam accident

An extraordinary session of the government and parliament of South Ossetia made a decision to announce July 20 the mourning day on the victims of the bus falling in to the abyss from the Trans-Caucasian Highway (know as "Transkam") on July 18.

The bus was on its way from Vladikavkaz to Tskhinvali and rushed into the abyss in one of the Transkam sections; there were 23 passengers and a driver - Russians and two citizens of South Ossetia in the bus: 11 persons, including two children, were lost.

Among the casualties, apart from the citizens of South Ossetia, there were citizens of the Russian Federation - three residents of North Ossetia, two builders from the Chechen Republic and a resident of Volgograd.

All the victims will receive 50,000 roubles each; their treatment will be paid by South Ossetia, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

The "News-Georgia" reports that the government of Georgia is also ready to render the necessary help to the victims of the Transkam accident.

  • Khamzat Kadyrov confirms drone attack on Chechnya

    Secretary of the Chechen Security Council Khamzat Kadyrov has posted on a social networking service a video of the destruction of a drone. The Chechen official has also added that all the drones launched today to attack the republic had been shot down.
