Place of train derailing in Dagestan studied by mine pickers

In the course of today's explosion on the railway in Dagestan, two engine drivers have received shocks and leg wounds, 12 railway cars have been derailed and overturned. The place of the accident is now studied by mine pickers and dog specialists.

For reference, the explosion occurred about 5:30 a.m. at the section Manas-Achisu of the republic's Karabydakhkent district, when a freight train was passing.

The explosive device triggered under the locomotive of the freight train which headed for Derbent, reports the railway section of transport internal affairs department of Makhachkala division of North-Caucasus railway company to ITAR-TASS. According to new information, 12 railway cars, containing confectionary and grain, have been derailed and overturned.

The place of the accident is now studied by mine pickers and dog specialists, they check the locality for more explosive devices. After checking, investigation officers and repair worker will start work, reports the republic's MoI press service to the RIA "Novosti".

The "Caucasian Knot" already reported that there had been more explosions on railway in Dagestan. During the night of June 29, an explosive device triggered while a freight train was passing on the same section of the railway. A diesel locomotive and two water tank railway cars were derailed.

On the evening of May 8, an explosion occurred when a freight train was passing near Kaspijsk. There were no casualties. On May 7, an unidentified explosive device triggered in Derbent on the railway station platform. Three militiamen and five civilians suffered then, two of the wounded persons died later.
