FSB asserts that Zelimkhan Oziev liquidated in Ingushetia was a militant

Madina Khadzieva, press secretary of the Ingush MIA, has confirmed to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent the information about liquidation by DFSB agents of Zelimkhan Oziev as a suspected militant. He was murdered in Kantyshevo village, Nazran District of Ingushetia. However, Ms Khadzieva gave no details, since, according to her story, the data about this special operation was kept by the Russian DFSB for Ingushetia. Oziev's relatives assert that Zelimkhan was subjected to extrajudicial execution.

The press service of the DFSB for Ingushetia has officially announced that Zelimkhan Oziev was killed as a member of the underground who took part in the attack this April on the workers of the local branch of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise (FSUE) "Mail of Russia". The DFSB asserts that Oziev tried to blow up a "khattabka" grenade and was shot dead by response fire.

In the morning, it was reported that a special operation was conducted in Kantyshevo village, Nazran District of Ingushetia, aimed to neutralize suspected militants, and, according to law enforcement bodies of the republic, two of them were killed.

Relatives of Oziev insist that it was extrajudicial execution of Zelimkhan. His mother Tamara Ozieva told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that her son of 23, a programmer at the advertising agency "Idea", was shot dead by power agents in the yard of his own house. According to her version, at about 7 in the morning over 100 law enforcers who arrived in an armoured troop carrier and Gazel vans, surrounded the Ozievs' household and asked them - from the neighbours' mobile phone - to go out of the house.

"My younger son Zelimkhan went out into the yard and was immediately shot dead by power agents without any warning," said Tamara Ozieva and added that her son had never before been brought to criminal liability and was not searched.

She asserts that after Zelimkhan's murder power agents deliberately destroyed Ozievs' house by shelling it with grenade cup launchers and automatic firearms.

The casualty's elder brother Timur and sister Aina were brought to the building of the DFSB for Ingushetia in the city of Magas. More than two hours ago Aina called her relatives and said that they had released, but the Ozievs worry, as the children should have reached their home already.

Tamara Ozieva has left for Magas hoping to clear out the fate of her children.

The Ozievs have also addressed with their application about the incident to the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial".

As reported in the statement of the HRC "Memorial", which arrived to the office of the "Caucasian Knot", some time ago the head of the family - Murat Oziev - was a well-known Ingush oppositional journalist - editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Angusht". In the time of President Murat Zyazikov, Murat Oziev had permanent problems with the authorities. The paper circulation was repeatedly confiscated, and his house was searched. Murat Oziev died in January 2009.

Until now, law enforcement bodies had no claims to the Ozievs. None of the family members has ever been searched. Their way of life is open, nobody is hiding. Aina Ozieva is the widow of Khasbulat Amerkhanov, killed in 2006 during a special operation. Khasbulat was suspected of participation in illegal armed formations.
