Dagestan: attack on motorcade kills eight wiremen

According to updated information, in Dagestan, at shelling and blowing up of a militia motor column in the Sergokalin District, which transported employees of the republic's television broadcasting centre, eight workers of the repair team were lost, and four militiamen were wounded.

Let us remind you that the motorcade got into ambush, when the repair team, accompanied by militia escort, were going to clarify the circumstances of shelling last night of a relay tower and a station of one of national mobile operators. Earlier it was reported that the casualties were militiamen.

Initially, the car with repairmen was blow up, then fire on the motorcade was opened. Some sources report that militiamen were wounded right as a result of the attack on the column, others - that when they chased the attackers.

Among those wounded in the skirmish was Maka Kurbanov, commander of the Republic's OMON-1, the ITAR-TASS reports.

Now, additional militia forces and armoured machines are brought to the place of the incident; so far, there is no data about the strength of militants, as the RIA "Dagestan" reports.
