Missing Chechen resident found in Ingushetia

The Chechen resident who disappeared 15 years ago has been found in Ingushetia. Murad Soltamuradov disappeared in 1995 when he was six-years-old. In early 90's, his relatives resided in the town of Argun, while Murad was brought up at Grozno boarding school. The missing person was found thanks to the surviving archives of the registry offices and the efforts of Argun internal affairs department officers.

"We knew that, at the beginning of combat actions in 1994, several children were hastily evacuated from the school by some women. Murad was among the children, we could not come in time to collect him. All this time, we hoped that he was alive and safe. It is a great day, we should like to heartily thank our Ingushetia friends who have brought up Murad", says Khadi Soltamuradov, uncle of the Chechen boy.

In 1995, under unknown circumstances, Murad Soltamuradov found himself at a post near the Chechen border. Three days later militia officer Magomed Tochiyev, who was on duty at the post those days, brought him to his house in the village of Achaluki. The head of the Tokayev's family repeatedly tried to locate the relatives of his adopted son.

"I have been looking for Murad's relatives in Grozny where in 1994 the boy went to the boarding school, and among Chechen refugees who lived in a compact group in Ingushetia during the combat actions, but my efforts were in vain", says Magomed Tochiyev.

Employees of Malgobek administration applied to the Ombudsman of the Chechen Republic with a request to locate the relatives of the boy. Zaikha Isayeva, employee of the Malgobek administration, Ingushetia, took an active part in searching for the boy's relatives.

The message of the CR Ombudsman press service received by the "Caucasian Knot" editing board runs that it was not easy to locate the Soltanmuradovs because the surname is very popular in Chechnya.

"We have used the help of the surviving archives of the republic's registry office. The documents stored there have brought us to the town of Argun. In addition, the management of Argun internal affairs department assisted us", notes Sultanbek Kadiyev, head of section on the protection of the rights of the mother and child.
