IOC marks Russia's success in preparing Sochi Olympiad

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) welcomes the successes reached by the organizers of the 2014 Winter Olympiad in Sochi, marking that all works are under the schedule.

Let us remind you that on April 13 Sochi hosted the 3rd visit of the IOC's Coordination Commission, which has the aim of making a general estimate of the results reached in preparation for the 2014 Games. On April 14, in the course of a TV bridge from Sochi with participation of the IOC's Assessment Commission, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said that in 2010 the federal sources assume to allocate funds for Olympic objects in Sochi in the volume of more than 29.7 billion roubles.

"What has been already made in the vicinities of Sochi is impressive," Jean-Claude Killi, Chairman of the "Sochi-2014" IOC's Assessment Commission, who had made a three-day working trip to the capital of Winter Olympiad, said today in Paris. "About 16,000 workers are employed on the round-the-clock basis at 43 construction sites. It is one of the largest and most ambitious projects in Europe, and I'm happy to report that the works are carried out in time."

"We've reminded the organizers that they should pay more attention to some areas, in particular, to accommodation of guests, recruitment and training of the labour force and to construction process. We are convinced that all the plans will be implemented; and we were impressed by the achieved successes, especially by the excellent programme of marketing," the ITAR-TASS quotes Mr Killi as saying.

He said that he could see 30 objects, where civil work are run simultaneously and day and night, and noted that all reports for the IOC were very nicely prepared. The experts who visited Sochi in early April received all the necessary information and help, as reported by the "Sochi-Online".
