Death toll of explosions in Moscow metro reaches 37

The count of casualties of the terror acts committed in Moscow metro has reached 37 persons. Under the latest data, 65 people were injured.

Let us remind you that the explosion at the Lubyanka metro station took place at 7:56 a.m. Moscow time. The second one was triggered at 8:40 a.m. Moscow time at the Park Kultury station of the ring line. According to the FSB (Federal Security Bureau), the today's terror acts at Lubyanka and Park Kultury Moscow metro stations were committed by women-suicide bombers. Two other women who accompanied them and were fixed by video cameras have been announced into search. Inspectors think they were terrorists' helpers.

Moscow authorities promised to render material aid to casualties' families and victims.

At the Park Kultury station, crowd in panic rushing to the exits after the explosion, when the platform was in smoke, trumped on a woman, who later died. This was reported by "Fontanka.ru" with reference to blogs; however, there is no official confirmation yet.

The "LifeNews" reports that explosion experts found another, unexploded, "shahid belt" with 1.5 kilos of explosive in the Park Kultury station. The edition writes that the bomb was found near the remains of the female-suicide bomber. Head of the FSB Alexander Bortnikov said, in his turn, that the bombs were hexogen-based.

President Dmitri Medvedev said at special sitting convoked after the terror acts that the line of the state "towards suppressing terror in our country and the war on terrorism will continue" without hesitations and up to the final end. According to his version, the terror acts were aimed at provoking destabilization in the country and society."

"Under a preliminary version, the terror acts were committed by a terrorist grouping related to Northern Caucasus; it will be our main version", the head of the FSB said at the meeting with the President.

The CNN has reported, with reference to its unnamed source, the involvement of Chechen armed underground in what had happened. One of separatist-supporting Russian-language websites has noted that the CNN had imposed responsibility on militants "by its own initiative," not confirming, but not refuting the involvement of North-Caucasian underground in the terror acts.

Now, the internal troops, together with units of Moscow GUVD (Chief Interior Department) are patrolling the stations of Moscow metro in the strengthened regime. The number of patrol militiamen was increased at railway stations and airports of the capital, the passport regime was toughened. Measures towards stronger aviation safety were taken at all Russia's airports, including the Moscow aviation node. The Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) "Russian Railways" has also strengthened its security measures at railway stations.
