David Ovannisyan: Armenian-Turkish dialogue grows into bargaining and speculations

The present stage of negotiations on normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations has the character of imitation. As stated by Professor of the Yerevan State University David Ovannisyan on March 5 at the roundtable "Dialogue Armenia-Turkey: Relation Recovery Process", the parties use any occasion to push negotiations into the track of deal-making and gambling.

Mr Ovannisyan emphasized that the parties tried to bring the points to debates, which are beyond the Armenian-Turkish dialogue, such as, for example, the Karabakh problem. The expert also noted that the real reconciliation between the nations is much more difficult and important than the issue of border opening.

Temel Iskit, another participant of the roundtable from Turkey, former ambassador of this country to Belgium, spoke positively about normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations. At the same time, according to the Turkish diplomat, Azerbaijan exerted pressure on Turkey.
