Ingush oppositionist Khazbiev summoned to interrogation on beating President's press secretary

Today, the case dealing with the attack on Kaloy Akhilgov, press secretary of President of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov, has received a new development after Akhilgov had addressed the GUVD (Chief Interior Department) of Nazran with an application asking to attract oppositionist Magomed Khazbiev as an accused person of the recent attack on him.

"Today I was called to the GUVD of Nazran as a witness on the case about the beating of Kaloy Akhilgov, who initially said that is was a mere showdown among relatives and nothing terrible had happened with him; but on the following day he spoke absolutely different things. Now, as it has turned out, the medical examination established that he was severely beaten, almost half-dead," Mr Khazbiev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "He wrote in his application that he was beaten by my three brothers, and I was the customer of this crime."

According to Khazbiev, they wanted to interrogate him today, but he refused to evidence without his lawyer Musa Pliev and signed nothing. "I'm sure that the attempt to persecute me through law enforcement bodies is the order of local authorities," said Khazbiev and reminded that his colleague, oppositionist Magomed Evloev, was shot dead by an employee of the MIA (as the court concluded, it was an involuntary manslaughter), and his other friend and colleague, Maksharip Aushev, was also assassinated on October 25, 2009.

"I travel over the republic only accompanied by two cars with my brothers. Probably, the authorities want to remove my guard in order to liquidate me or put in prison. Today I was served summon for March 10, when I'm to come to the inspector with my lawyer," said Mr Khazbiev.

In the opinion of the oppositionist, they try to attach him to the attack on Akhilgov because of his political and public activities, in particular, "signing-in the appeal to the European Parliament asking to recognize the 1944 deportation of Ingushes to be genocide, which I announced when in Europe and which is now underway in the republic."

Ibragim Aushev, inspector of the GUVD, who served the summon to Khazbiev today, has flatly refused to give any comments to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent and hanged up.

Kaloy Akhilgov, press secretary of President of Ingushetia, has confirmed the fact of filing application to the GUVD, but refused to give details saying that it was an "internal matter" and he would not like to bring his beating for discussion by a broad audience.
