Head of Novorossisk UVD sues human rights activist Karastelyov

Vladimir Chernositov, head of the UVD (Interior Department) of Novorossisk has lodged a suit on defence of his honour, dignity and business reputation against Vadim Karastelyov, head of the Novorossisk Committee on Human Rights, who represents the interests of ex-militiaman Alexei Dymovskiy.

Mr Chernositov asks to collect 100,000 roubles from Karastelyov to compensate his moral damage. In case of satisfaction of his claim, he plans to send the money in favour of children-orphans.

The judge of the district court has confirmed that such claim had actually arrived to her for consideration. According to her story, a preliminary hearing on the claim will take place on March 9.

Mr Karastelyov explained that the suit is related to his interviews to local Internet editions, in which he spoke about the cost of the house of the UVD boss, "incommensurable", in his opinion, with Chernositov's official salary.

The latter asserts that this information is false and also demands to refute the information that the militia fails to investigate crimes against human rights activists, as the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.

"I'll never reject my words and ready to prove them in the court," Vadim Karastelyov has noted.
