Czechia not to deport Pyatigorsk residents with annulled visas

As reported by a source in the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the problem with the students of the Pyatigorsk State Linguistic University (PSLU) detained in Czechia "is practically settled." A decision was made to issue Schengen visas to them for they could continue their travel.

Let us remind you that on February 28 six students from the Stavropol Territory were detained at the airport of the city of Brno. There, their Schengen visas were annulled without any explanations.

In the course of a check it was found out that it was just "a technical mistake" at drawing up their visa documents. Now, the young people can stay in Czechia, as the Russian News Service reports. "The Russian students can ask for their new visas, while staying in Czechia, with no need to get to Moscow for the purpose," the "Gazeta.Ru" writes referring to Phillip Kanda, press secretary of the Czech MFA.

The problem was solved through the efforts of Russia's embassy in Prague and personal interference of the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Czechia, the ITAR-TASS reports.

"In a couple of hours from now, the Russian students will get their new visas free of charge and be able to go on with their tourist trip," runs the statement of the Russia's MFA disseminated today.

In the meantime, six students are for the second day in the airport in Czechia. "Five girls and one boy - all are the students of our University, from the first to the fourth year of study, are still in the Czech airport," Sergey Krasnov, head of the PR Department of the PSLU, told the "Interfax" today.
