Azerbaijan commemorates victims of Khodzhaly tragedy
Today is 18 years after the Khodzhaly tragedy, when at night on February 26, 1992, the city of Khodzhaly in Nagorno-Karabakh, inhabited by Azerbaijanis, was seized by Armenian armed formations with participation of the 366th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the former Soviet Army.
On February 26, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliev, members of the government, deputies of the parliament, officials from the diplomatic corps and representatives of the broad public of the country will visit the Memorial to the victims of Khodzhaly tragedy in the Khatain District of Baku and pay tribute to the memory of the victims.
Besides, at 5:00 p.m. the memory of the victims will be marked over the whole territory of the country by a minute of silence.
The mourning actions on the occasion of the 18th anniversaries of the Khodzhaly tragedy are also held abroad by Azerbaijani diplomatic missions and Azeri Diaspora in a number of cities of Russia, Ukraine, Western Europe, USA and other countries of the world.
