Magomed Abdullaev offered to the post of Prime Minister of Dagestan
Today, the sitting of the presidium of the National Assembly of Dagestan made a decision to put approval of Magomed Abdullaev, nominated by President of Dagestan Magomedsalam Magomedov to the post of the chairman of the government, on the agenda of the forthcoming session.
The voting on the nominee will take place on February 25 at the regular session of the republic's parliament.
Let us note here that earlier Abdullaev figured in the list of five possible candidates to the post of the President, offered by the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party to Russian President Dmitri Medvedev.
Earlier, President of Dagestan had noted that the practice should be observed, when the three first persons of the republic - President, Premier and Speaker of Parliament - represent the three basic nations living in Dagestan. The leader of the region also noted that he would nominate a representative of Avars - the largest ethnic group of the republic - to the post of the chairman of the government of Dagestan, while Magomedov himself is a Dargin.
This statement of President of Dagestan caused a sharp reaction among Kumyks - another numerous ethnos of Dagestan. In Makhachkala, on February 16, a rally of Kumyks was held, where demands were announced to appoint a Kumyk to the post of Prime Minister of Dagestan.
Khizri Shikhsaidov, a Deputy of the Russian State Duma from Dagestan, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he had negatively perceived the news about the rally. "I'm a Kumyk, but I don't understand the people who state that this or that post is forever fixed to a certain nation. Rotation of the cadre is mandatory, and in Dagestan every nation has capable specialists able to take any post with no problems," said the MP.
