Traffic in Transcaucasian Highway restored
After clearing the carriageway, the Highway, closed in North Ossetia from about midnight on February 22, is again operating in its usual mode.
The Transcaucasian Highway, connecting Russia with South Ossetia, was closed for traffic because of danger of the so-called "wet" avalanches. Before that, all the day long on February 21, it was snowing and raining, which triggered several avalanches.
As reported by the republic's MfE, today the road workers managed to clear the snow blockages, and from 2:30 p.m. the road was reopened, as the IA "Northern Caucasus" reports.
Meanwhile, the road services continue working in the emergency regime. Now, it is snowing in the area of the Highway, the clearing continues, and the threat of avalanches remains, the "Yuga.Ru" reports.
