In Kalmykia, chief state tax inspector convicted for bribe
The Elista City Court has passed a verdict of guilty to the lady-chief state tax inspector of the Divisions of Field Checks No. 1 for Elista of the Inspectorate of the Federal Tax Service (IFTS) of Russia. She was found guilty of taking a bribe for illegal inactivity.
It was established by the preliminary and judicial investigation that the convict was engaged in a tax check at one of organizations. On July 13, 2009, she offered to the director general to give her a bribe of at least 100,000 roubles for concealing in her report on the tax check of revealed violations of the tax legislation.
This offered inactivity would have entailed reduction of the sum of the taxes to be additionally paid by the taxpayer on the outcomes of the check.
The "Kommersant" newspaper writes that on that very day, at about 3:35 p.m. near one of the houses of the 8th micro-district of Elista, she was detained after taking the money by employees of law enforcement bodies.
The court has upheld the prosecution and found her guilty of bribe-taking. On February 19, she was sentenced to 5 years of conditional imprisonment with a trial period of 3 years. Besides, the woman is deprived of the right to take any positions connected with power representation or any organizational-administrative functions in the system of Russian tax bodies of the Russian Federation for three years, the "Elista.Org" Agency reports.
