Ramzan Kadyrov is ready to be Chechen leader for another term
President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov said that he is ready to remain the head of the republic until he is on demand in this position. His term as President of Chechnya expires in 2012.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that earlier Kadyrov had asserted that his mission was "to finish what the first President of Chechnya Ahmat-Hadji Kadyrov had started - to eradicate once and forever the reasons, which give birth to wars, tragedies and bloodshed in Chechnya; to lay forever the foundation for peace and stability in the region, and to ensure the peaceful future for the people of Chechnya." "In this endeavours we are fully supported by the federal centre," he said.
According to his version, he is ready to continue the work in the post of President of Chechnya "until he has force" and "the people need him." At the same time, he stated that he has no desire to grasp the power.
"Should President of Russia offer me as a nominee for the next term in office, and the nomination be approved by the MPs, I'll go on with my work in the post of President of the Chechen Republic," the "Interfax" quotes Ramzan Kadyrov as saying.
"I'm just a servant to my people - honest to Allah, honest to my father. I'm thinking already now, how to accurately leave the post of the President, when the time comes, to take off this burden and to get into, at last, my private life…," said Kadyrov in his interview to the newspaper "Nasha Versiya" (Our Version) of January 14, 2010.
